The Source of Our Strength
Philippians 4:13 (KJV) I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Sadly, people often use this verse outside of the biblical context that God gave it to us. In this verse, the emphasis is placed upon the power and presence of God. However, when people quote this verse relating it to their lives, the revealed source of their power and position working in their life often comes from self, rather than from God. In other words, many shout, “look what I did…”
The emphasis on the source of strength is a big deal. In other words, “I can,” at the beginning of this verse, points to success WITH God, not in finding success without Him. None of us are an island of our own standing. It takes the presence and power of God to make a success out of any individual as they live in this world.
Further, one must have the power and presence of God at work in their life to fellowship with Him for all eternity. Nothing can be done now or in the eternal realm without God.
Yes, indeed, we can do it, as long as we align with God, and He is directing our way. Without God and His strength, no person can find lasting success and their way in this world.
