The Spiritual Dynamics of Certain Death
Ecclesiastes 12:7-8 (KJB) Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. 8 Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity.
Solomon is speaking about the certain physical death of God’s children. Their fleshly body will return to dust and their spirit will arrive in the eternal realm. That which is physical in nature returns to the ground while that which is alive spiritually returns to its maker God.
However, please understand that this scripture verse is not articulating any certainties for the physical death of a child of the god of this world. Yes, it is true that a lost person’s physical body will return to the earth just like a child of God. However, his spiritual body will arrive in eternity dead in spirit. A lost person will never arrive in the eternal realm alive and in fellowship with God but rather for appearing before God for certain judgement. A spiritually dead man will face the damning fires of Hell forevermore in eternity because of his vain choice to serve sin rather than choosing to be spiritually quickened alive by placing his personal faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ upon Calvary.
Faith + God = eternal life but the opposing equation of –faith + god = eternal damnation forevermore
Placing faith in the finished work of God and His Son Jesus Christ removes the sting of death and ushers in eternal life in fellowship with God forever for every child of God. Any person who chose to serve death and sin, rather than God, faces eternal punishment and banishment from God forevermore.
