The Three-Fold Ministering Of The Holy Spirit

John 16:7-9 (KJV) Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me.

Just before His arrest and death on the cross, this teaching by Jesus is likely as clear as mud to His confused disciples.  Jesus was going away, where, why, and for how long…I can hear the many questions swimming through their minds and trailing out of their mouths.  None of what He speaks to them makes sense before Calvary.

However, once Calvary took place, the pieces of His message began to fit perfectly together.  This scripture, located above, illustrates the Holy Spirit’s ministering and comfort only possible by the shed-blood death of Jesus Christ on the cross.  What seemed gory and unthinkable is necessary to remove sin and the sting of death to any soul who will believe.

The salvation gift of God required the death of a testator, Jesus Christ; this allowed The Comforter to come, The Holy Spirit.  This biblical message illustrates the three-prong approach: The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit for the salvation of souls.

This precious comforting verse, given to the disciples before Jesus Christ’s death, only makes perfect sense after the shed-blood sacrificial death on the cross at Calvary.  The Holy Spirit brings comfort, judgment, and righteousness to those who sincerely believe.
