The Trio of Body, Soul, and Spirit
1 Thessalonians 5:23 (KJB) And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
This verse recorded by Paul is spiritually thick and inviting. Digesting what it reveals, in ancient times and for us today compares to the satisfaction of biting into a thick juicy burger for a beef lover. It is a tremendous spiritual meal, indeed.
It is true, this verse provides the meat of God’s Word which can be chewed and digested in the heart. Not only that but it leaves a child of God feeling comforted, safe, and eternally secure as he turns his attention to the coming of Christ.
God doesn’t just lightly dust and clear visible clutter He finds accumulated inside a spiritually softened heart. He sweeps a heart completely clean. Not only that, but He preserves a quickened alive soul the very moment of sanctification. His spiritual scrubbing allows a man to be pure and blameless in preparation for the coming of the Lord in his entirety; body, soul, and spirit.
A genuine child of God’s entire being, body, soul, and spirit are made ready for fellowship with God now and for all eternity. God’s spiritual heart work removes all the dirt and sanctifies the soul to be in perfect spiritual agreement with God.
