This Charge Was Considered Treason

Luke 23:38 (KJB) And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Jesus was formally charged with treason by Pilate.  A sign was hung over Him declaring Him KING OF THE JEWS.  This declaration came from Jesus and was apart from loyalty to collective political leaning and the military rule of the Roman government.  To these men, His claim was absurd.

However, we can know for sure that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that this claim, made in ancient times, remains right and true to this day.  In fact, we have a distinct advantage, able to look back at God’s finished spiritual work in the shed blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ on Calvary.   Those ancient people alive in the moment of Calvary could not see the events we can know about today, including Jesus Christ’s physical death, burial, and resurrection unto a new life.

Yes, we can read and know this essential history and apply it to our lives today and in our eternal future.

Many ancient people could not drum up enough faith to believe in the words of Jesus before Calvary.  Sadly, few can bring themselves to believe in the power and presence of God even today without question or hesitation, even with archeological treasures, prophecy coming to fruition, and the supernatural events of Calvary divinely recorded in God’s Word.

God’s claims are valid and will last throughout time; you can count on it!

You see, nothing has changed since the beginning about the power and presence of God.  He is THe King Of The Jews and will forever remain so.  His claim was not treasonous and any person with sincere faith can believe His statement without reservation.
