This Drink Is Symbolic Of His Purchase

Matthew 26:27-28 (KJB) And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

Humanity can know for sure the symbolic shedding of blood as a sacrifice by Jesus Christ took place on Calvary.  This event was prophesied and recorded throughout the canon of scripture for our learning and personal application.

Here in these verses, Jesus Christ Himself, upon His resurrection from the grave, spoke of Calvary’s symbolism concerning the remission of sin to His disciples as they gathered for the last supper.  This vital representation was not just crucial in ancient biblical times, but this celebration and now in the partaking of this symbolic drink holds relevance for today and the future as it illustrates the shedding of His precious blood for the removal of sin.

Jesus Christ’s shed-blood sacrifice stands forever.  This feat on Calvary ushered in the New Testament Covenant.  It brought humanity the potential for removal of sin in spiritually softened souls that agree with God about the nature of sin.  Each person must personally apply His blood to his or her life.
