Treasure in Earthen Vessels
2 Corinthians 4:7-10 (KJB) But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
We are all familiar with the many treasures and little trinkets available in this world. They are the material things we can hold in our hands and often have them wrapped up in sentimental value by holding them dearly in our heart. That is not the kind of treasures this scripture verse is highlighting.
A spiritual treasure hidden in earthen vessels is a reference to the Holy Spirit of God alive and kicking inside the softened heart of a man. The earthen vessel is a reference to the fleshly body of a man, woman or child of God.
The presence of The Holy Spirit is the greatest treasure a man can ever discover for himself. It is always a personal treasure trove divinely containing the supernatural power and presence of God at work inside the heart of a spiritually regenerated man. A man cannot simply find this spiritual treasure in a store, by ordering it online, or discover it buried in the ground. It is exclusively available through having a personal relationship with God.
This spiritual treasure is by far the greatest treasure ever. It is only found in a personal relationship with Christ through faith in Jesus Christ’s finished work on the cross at Calvary. I pray you have Him at work inside your softened heart.
