1 Timothy 1:4 (KJB) Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.
The matter of pedigree or lineage was notable for many reasons in biblical times. It was so significant that men would often get caught up in heated discussion with endless questions, strife, and stirring the pot, so to speak concerning their birthright. Ultimately though any contention made little difference if it could not be confirmed as fact. In other words, if a man had proof of his lineage, it opened doors and opportunities for him in this world. However, lineage and heritage did nothing for him regarding eternal matters.
Godly edifying, on the other hand, works to enrich and build faith in the hearts and minds of the people. Even today, there are beliefs and groups of people who would instead pick apart one another than to come together and share in the timeless truths of God despite any differences.
You see, in the end, only Truth of God will triumph. All other beliefs and confidences will mean nothing in light of eternity. Encourage and enrich others by rather than tear them apart using foolish questions, heritage, and quandaries grounded in a limiting mindset of this world which will only serve to be divisive rather than unite mankind to God.
