Ungodly Circumstances in This World
2 Timothy 3:2-5 (KJB) For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Wow! Nothing can better describe the unholy circumstances found working in this world than these few verses of scripture.
Many people, even professing Christians, are lovers of themselves rather than harboring a genuine love for things of God. Many are pumped full of pleasure, pride, and pomp. They are filled with things of the flesh including an appetite for pleasures, accomplishments, and possessions rather than giving any regard for the supernatural power and presence of God.
The truth is anyone who loves himself, above and beyond God, cannot possibly rightly love God or possess a sincere relationship with Him. A spiritual life personally connected to God places Him in first place. Those who place a relationship with God on the back burner have positioned themselves above God. Those who have situated a relationship with God alongside them as a good friend have missed the importance of having awe and reverence for God.
God promises to eternally remember those who both profess and apply a genuine spiritual relationship with him as they sojourn on this earth. God promises to eternally forget any person who is ashamed to openly live and profess a genuine relationship with Him.
