Unrestrained Anger and Rage
Acts 7:54 (KJB) When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with their teeth.
The Bible tells us that these men were cut to the heart and were even baring their teeth. The truth of God is potent and powerful. It caused these men to gnash with their teeth because conviction ripped apart their soul and spiritually moved them from a pleasant and palatable comfort zone to a place of persuading heart conviction.
There is a polarizing evil unrest at work in the hearts of many people. This can result in what seems to be unrestrained anger, especially upon being confronted with God’s Truth. A man recognizing his own sin can cause a man to reach out with an ire that a lawless man cannot contain. Sin “slices and dices” the presence of sin. It cuts to the very core of who a lost man is, a lawbreaker.
Recognizing an utter heart condition can cause a man to quickly boil over and spill his heart of wickedness in this world with a vengeance.
It may seem as if this kind of raging reaction to the recognition to sin has no limit, but consider that Jesus Christ has already beaten the power of sin and has the final victory in hand diffuses any temporary power sin and conviction has on evil hearts at work in this world.
