Ephesians 5:15-17 (KJV) See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
It is not enough to “give lip service” to God, attend church, be an ethical and moral person, and speak kindly of God. Each sincere child of God both desires and implements God’s direction and wisdom to will and work in their life as they walk in this world. In other words, those who desire in their heart to allow God to be in first place in their life will naturally let Him direct them as they walk with Him.
A new walk with God is not an ordinary or commonly found trek along the beaten pathway of this world. No, as this verse teaches, every genuine child of God walks circumspect, but what does this term mean? It means to walk judiciously or to walk alongside Him rather than in opposition to his ways. It is to walk in agreement with His character and style and to separate from the evil tactics popular in this world.
God desires each of us to walk in spiritual agreement with Him and to divide ourselves away from the corrupt nature at work in this world. Choosing this trek means to walk circumspect, or with caution towards evil at work in this wicked world as we honor and glorify God.
