What About The After-Life?

Hebrews 9:27 (KJV) And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.

It seems nothing is more intriguing to curious earthly souls than the thought of the afterlife.  Undoubtedly, Hollywood helps to stir the imagination in a big way with their many series and movies portraying what writers and producers think life after death will entail.  You see everything from the walking dead to an almost fairy tale kind of life, dread, and horror.  None of these plots do justice to the eternal reality of both lost and saved souls.

But, wait, God already covered essential details of life after death and compiled them in His Word for our study and application.  Yes, and He tells us that eternity will be vastly diverse for regenerated souls compared to the reality waiting for spiritually lost souls who did not choose to recognize God as they lived on this earth.

The afterlife for a child of God is beyond imagination.  The Apostle John shared a few details of the glimpse God of the heavenly realm gave him.  John was at a loss for words to describe what he saw and was limited in what he could pen about the future, awaiting saved souls.  The Bible tells us more details about Hell, likely in hopes of waking slumbering souls to the danger that lies in eternity for every soul that does not share in fellowship with God.

If a person truly wants to glimpse at the after-life and understand what is waiting in eternity, he or she only needs to open the pages of God’s Word and read what God inspired ordinary ancient men to pen.  The Bible, God’s lasting record, describes the potential eternal address locations for saved and lost souls.  God’s account is realistic and reliable, unlike Hollywood’s account about perpetual life, as understood in the minds of men, falling short of God’s perpetual reality.
