What An Example
John 17:4 (KJB) I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
This short statement in scripture says it all about the obedience of Jesus Christ to the will of His Father. Jesus Christ glorified God during His brief visit to this earth. Yes, indeed, you know that He accomplished the will of God upon calvary while present in this world. You also understand that this challenging spiritual work was given to Jesus Christ to achieve by the will of God.
Jesus Christ could have said no to God. He could have chosen to allow legions of angels to rescue Him from the weight and physical woes of bringing about the will of God. However, Jesus Christ decided to finish the work that His Father God handed Him despite the cost of carrying it through to completion.
Knowing about this beautiful example of Jesus Christ’s obedience to the will of God, how can we elect to stand indifferent towards the will of God for our life? I do not know about you, but it is often more comfortable to walk back from fulfilling the will God has placed on my life than it is to carry the spiritual task through to the end. It is easier to say no to God than it is to bear the burden we have are given.
At no time did God say it would be pleasurable to fulfill His will for our life. In fact, in many verses, including in John 16:33, God told us that living for Him in this wicked world would be rather difficult. However, we can use the example of how Jesus Christ fulfilled His will to push forward in our walk with God as we sojourn on this earth.
You, too, can accomplish that which God has placed on your life. Obedience to the desires and direction of God brings Him all the glory and honor, and He helps us achieve all that He wills for our life. Jesus Christ left a beautiful example for us to consider and apply in our life as we savor and serve God.
