What Would You Be Willing to Give in Exchange for Your Life?

And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. (Job 2:4 KJV)

Mankind is fickle when his physical life is at stake.  He will often not stop at selling his soul, or the life of another, to try to preserve his own existence.  Self-preservation is an attempt to make life more palatable and pleasurable while serving to prolong one’s life.  Often mankind is traveling along the wide avenue of pleasure in bumper to bumper traffic in route to their own eternal spiritual demise.

Taking a life of a baby and using parts to preserve the life of another, or legalizing drugs to self-medicate by introducing toxic substances indiscriminately killing brain cells, and promising greater peace and comfort potentially from extend one’s life through harsh and unproven medical treatments, are all ways man seeks to make his life more prolonged, peaceful, and palatable.  He is always working to extend the length of his physical life all the while forgetting God has ultimate authority over the time span of all his days.

Deep down every man and woman realizes in their heart that they will meet face to face with God for an accounting of his or her life.  Mankind is often willing to go to great effort to prolong that meeting for as long as possible.  Or finds himself residing at the other end of the spectrum of life by working to bring his own death on quickly in his own timing to escape his own reality rather than existing according to God’s own will and timing.
