What You Care About Matters
Jude 22 (KJB) And of some have compassion, making a difference.
Many people in this world want to make a difference.
What separates genuinely godly and compassionate people apart from the cares of others is the caliber of concerns they have and the changes they desire to make.
A person can be passionate about good and moral causes. He or she can pursue a lifelong-dream of saving exotic animals whose species is about to die out of existence. Or seek after those who have a cavalier attitude towards protecting and preserving the lives of stray, abandoned, or unkept pets. A person with a heart for animals can make a difference in the lives of abandoned and abused pets.
A person can spend much time promoting an individual belief, like the right to choose abortion by appealing for the right of a woman who wants abortion to be upheld in the laws of society. A person with this belief set can financially support women’s rights groups and petition leaders and government politicians for keeping these privileges accessible to women.
A godly person can be compassionate about the heart condition of our youth. Because of the first amendment he can distribute tracts and given an open door, or further opportunity can share the gospel message found in God’s Word for hearts to be quickened according to the will of God.
If you asked each of these people, they would all claim to be compassionate and caring individuals. All of them desire to make a difference in this world. However, only one circumstance presented above will truly transform a life both now and forever. Eternity is a guaranteed conclusion for every individual but things of this world and everything found in it will be destroyed forever.
