Who is The Great High Priest?
Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. (Hebrews 7:3 KJV)
This verse is speaking of the great High Priest of the Old Testament named Melchisedec. He had no beginning, end, or father or mother, and was a priest without end.
He was named Melchisedec. He was none other than the pre-incarnate Jesus Christ. He is the only one who could aptly fit this detailed description. There is no other who could claim to be a perpetual priest, present on this earth since the beginning of time, was involved in the creation, and alive forever without end.
The Bible clearly tells us that the Trinity, which is God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit was present as “Creator in Chief” since the beginning in Genesis 1:26 and John1:1.
We also know that Jesus Christ was sent by God the Father to exist in the flesh on this earth through a supernatural arrival via a virgin birth. Therefore, He had no earthly father or mother as all other people who were living on this earth. Jewish men could often recite their ancestors and were careful to have a written record of their genealogical birth record. Only by this certain proof could substantiate their given heritage.
Jesus Christ could not prove his heritage having no ancestral record of birth or a particular father’s name to record as all the other men did who were alive on this earth. Jesus Christ’s supernatural genealogical record could only be understood through faith in His spoken word, rather than by any tangible physical proof.
Therefore, many who were alive at this special time in ancient history did not understand who Jesus Christ, Melchisedec, or the Godhead was and still is today. Even today many get hung up on the inspired record clearly presented in God’s Word about the Godhead, and the perpetual reign of Jesus Christ as the King of Kings.
