Wickedness and Evil Grieved God
Genesis 6:5-6 (KJB) And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
God knows the heart condition of every person since the beginning. The presence of sin grieves God. In fact, God was so bereaved at the sinfulness of man just a few generations forward from Adam, that He was sorry He ever created mankind.
God did not ask for forgiveness about fashioning mankind, for we know that God never sinned. The word repented in this scripture is often misunderstood. Rather, God was so sorrowed in His heart that humans were evil continually that He changed His mind about man’s continual presence on this earth.
God would soon choose to wipe out the entire population living on this earth, except the saving of Noah and his immediate family, because of the heartbreaking presence of wickedness at work inside the hearts of mankind. God changed His mind, or repented, about this wickedness at work in the lives of mankind in this world.
