Will Not Break Under Pressure
2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (KJV) We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.
Oh, the pressures one faces in this world can be tremendous and incredibly forceful. Yet, no matter what we face, it does not give us an excuse to become anxious, out of sorts, and fearful. It often appears more comfortable to give up and to give in to the demands that seem to surround us on every side. Doing so often leads a soul to capitulate to the wiles of the god of this world rather than aligning himself to God. Moving away from God will only add a further burden to bear on this earth and lead lost-hearted souls to a fiery address in the eternal realm.
Indeed there is persecution and problems at work on this earth just as Jesus Christ alluded to in scripture such as John 16:33. However, a sincere child of Christ expects trouble and terrors on this earth, but none of it stops His devotion or desire to fulfill the will and service to God and essentially moves him or her closer in fellowship with God as we rest in Him.
Tis true, tensions and trials in this world can cement our relationship to God rather than disrupt our peace and drive us into the arms of the wickedness of the god of this world. Each must make a personal choice to rely on and trust in God amid prosecution and hostilities rather than opting to conform to the ways of the god of this world and prevalent corruption on this earth.
