Willing To Sacrifice
Acts 20:24 (KJV) But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
Persistence amid persecution is a part of a sincere, godly character. The Apostle Paul, penning this at the inspiration of God, ought to know this well. These traits are evident in the inspired and recorded account of Jesus Christ’s life, the Apostle Paul’s life, Stephen’s life, Moses’s life, etc. During their ministry on this earth.
These traits are at work in any genuine professing Christians’ life to some extent in the middle of any circumstance of life. Serving God despite our state of affairs builds spiritual stamina and longsuffering in sincere professing children of God.
Yes, gain through pain and suffering is at times necessary to move a soul to where God can both use and bless his or her life. However, the lasting joy every sincere child of God receives as his heart and mind are revitalized unto serving and savoring God is insurmountable. In other words, none has any reason to sulk and sour about corruption and conditions at work about us in this world. Or to complain about any adverse conditions we face, for God ultimately knows what is best for our life as we serve Him in this world.
The mindset and heart at work in professing Christians is one of willingness to face extreme conditions and challenging circumstances as necessary, all in the name of testifying and serving God according to His will for our life as we sojourn in this world. Jesus Christ and the Apostle Paul serves as examples to quiet our heart and mind amid difficult times.
