1 Timothy 3:16 (KJB) And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
This verse is rich in godliness. Not only that, but it reveals for us that holiness is no longer a mystery to unravel, but it is available for our recognition and application. Thank God we live on the completed side of the cross at Calvary. The finished work of God stands without question and provides every humble heart certain eternal victory.
This verse tells us many vital spiritual things, including that God was manifested in the flesh. Jesus Christ’s earthly appearance was seen of angels. God’s message was revealed to the Gentiles in times past, and they believed. And, that in commencing His earthly ministry, Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven. This message is not limited to importance in ancient biblical times, but it as crucial for us today as it is throughout history.
God’s message revealed in the beginning and accomplished on Calvary is easy to understand. It is one of hope, peace, and provides for whosoever will a vital lesson in godliness as it ushers in the certainty of eternal life.
