Work Out Your Salvation with Fear and Trembling
Philippians 2:12 (KJB) Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
The fear and trembling mentioned in these verses are about having a healthy spiritual fear of God. It is not a fear based on events or circumstances in this world for God is greater than the sum of our surroundings and situations at work about us.
A healthy spiritual fear consists of reverencing God above all else. It is a fear that stands in awe of God and His unlimited power and presence in this universe. It is a fear that causes a quickened alive man to tremble in humble consideration of who God is and resting in His supernatural abilities.
While it is true that salvation is all of God, there is an expectation placed upon every child of God to exist and sojourn on this earth as a humble servant of God willing and ready to serve God as he lives in obedience to His Word.
A child of God desires to work out his salvation according to the parameters God has set in place since the beginning. God does the heart work of salvation, and a child of God naturally produces a harvest of spiritual fruit from his supernaturally tendered heart condition ready and willing to serve and satisfy God.
