Who, What, Why, When, Where
Wednesday’s Wisdom From God’s Word
I can Worship God Any Way I Want
John 4:23-24 (KJB) But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Did you know that there has always been a specific means of truly worshipping God? God is clear in His Word there is a proper and undue worship of Him. In the context of this scripture verse, God was speaking to both Jews and Samaritans as he revealed this important truth. It is as pertinent for mankind today as it was to this particular audience in ancient biblical times.
It’s true, proper praise and worship of God cannot be done just any old way, or by prostrating oneself in a certain position, by going through certain motions, or by repeating words, or doing what feels right, or in a certain practice because everyone else is doing.
A person cannot sincerely worship God on his own terms or in a setting found at work this world.
A man must worship God according to what He has revealed to us as proper worship in His Word.
The Bible tells us in this verse that God is a Spirit. His presence is not found in the rocks, and the trees, or among any objects found among His creation. Therefore, a person cannot worship God by clinging to any certain object located in this world. To truly worship God a man must be connected in a personal spiritual relationship with Him. This spiritual relationship transcends any other union. It is supernatural, which means it is set above the foundation of any other relationship. It is a personal relationship based on the spiritual condition at work inside a regenerated man’s heart.
A man can sincerely attempt to worship God on his own merit and works generated in the flesh, however, true worship is founded upon the finished spiritual work of Jesus Christ at Calvary. True worship is at work inside regenerated hearts and always brings honor and glory to God.
