You Can Rightly Divide Truth
2 Timothy 2:15 (KJB) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
The word correct, or to “correct” another can be defined as “to set straight” or to correspond or align another with an absolute standard of truth.
Anything in this world which is not aligned in context to coincide with Truth of God is not absolute or set. It is not “nailed down” but swaying to and fro with the winds of change ever blowing about in this world.
There is a big quandary in this world concerning what exactly is truth.
The world employs different measures or grades of deciding truth including:
Political correctness – this mindset aligns up to what is proper in the eyes of the world’s governance and authority; which may or may not align up with popular opinion. The politically correct approach fluctuates with leadership change and is subject to corruption and sudden impulses determined solely by emotion and philosophy found commonly at work in this world. This form of correctness has nothing concrete established to base any solid truths upon.
Social correctness – Being socially correct bases a flimsy emotional standard upon what is deemed “normal” or “acceptable” according to current popular opinion at work in this world. Opinions are always weak and wobbly at best and prevail only for a short time until some other thought or precept is introduced and vaulted to occupy the “top spot” by those whose voices are the most persistent and prevail amongst the roar of the crowd.
Bible correctness – This is a heart and mindset based solely upon God’s Word. It is founded upon the power and presence of God and was firmly established in the beginning lasting forever. His Truth is settled forever. It is the only solid foundation to base understanding and division of Truth upon.
God’s Word emphatically declares His Word can be rightly divided. So then, we can also deduct that there is a wrong division of truth at work on the opposing end of this static spectrum. One serves to bring glory to God while the other works to bring darkness and shame to Him.
There are always approved workers of God as well as those who are unapproved workers who are busy sowing in this world. The regenerated man must use discernment in weeding out what are false weeds from that which is seeds of the Truth of God.
