You Do Not Have Much Time To Get It Right!

James 4:14-15 (KJV) Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

Life is short.  I am confident that many of you are personally familiar with at least one life tragically cut short because of an unexpected illness or sudden tragedy.  Life is abrupt and sudden death has a way of sneaking up unexpectedly.  This fact is why each of us must prepare for death’s arrival or the triumphant return of Jesus Christ one day soon.

Often it seems, even with a chronic illness, as death looms on the horizon, a person is never ready for death to take their life or the life of a loved one.  Death is painful to face, no matter the circumstances at hand.  But, whatever you do, do not shove the knowledge of God under the rug.  Or place Him in the back seat until you have time to “deal” with Him concerning both life and your death.  God does not bargain about this, nor does He wait until a person is ready; he allows both according to His divine timing and will.

The truth is, death can come at any moment from the time a human begins to breathe until he takes in his last air.  Life on this earth is fleeting at best.  A person is here and alive one moment, and in the next moment, your breath may depart from your tent of flesh.

I hope you understand that life is fleeting, and your life in this flesh is temporary because of the presence of sin; death will occur.  Each person faces mortality at the timing of God (Hebrews 9:27).  However, souls who know God are ushered immediately into eternity with Him upon physical death, but those not prepared for eternity face eternal damnation without fellowship with God.
