Your New Identity
Philippians 3:12 (KJB) Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
Remember whose you are, where you came from, as well as where you are headed for eternity.
Formerly you and I were both hopeless children who were naturally dead in spirit and choosing to follow the sin and darkness carelessly flowing from the god of this world. Now that you and I have placed faith in God’s supernatural presence and power in the finished work of Calvary, we have become spiritual children of God.
Yes, positionally speaking a man or woman becomes a child of God the minute of his or her salvation. As a person matures and grows through the fuel of faith, applies God’s truths, through obedience he becomes more and more godly, bearing fruit of His Spirit exclusively at work inside spiritually softened hearts.
This new spiritual identity never sticks because a man accomplished something on his own, or because a man “has it all together,” but because of faith placed in what Jesus Christ has already done on the cross of Calvary. This finished spiritual work gives every person a spiritual opportunity for being alive forever.
Yes, He gave you and me and every person an opportunity to receive unmerited favor and grace and become a child of God and live forevermore.
A child of God can attain eternal spiritual life exclusively through the supernatural power and presence of God. A man after God’s own heart desires and chooses to pursue an identity with Christ as he sojourns in this world.
