Your Reflection In The Mirror
James 1:23-24 (KJB) For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. Nonetheless, Jacob sought the will and way of God in this situation.
As a person grows older, often he or she comes to a time when they despise looking at themselves in the mirror. Their hair has grayed, they have gained extra weight, their face sags, and on and on the myriad of excuses come forth. The truth is that many a person does not want to recognize they are no longer what they used to be. Instead, they are what their reflection in the mirror shows, older!
Speaking spiritually, when a person recognizes their character and heart condition, it can be a wake-up call. However, for some who despise their reflection, it can be an opportunity to pretend to be something they are not. However, God is not into pretending or acting a part. He is intimately aware of every heart condition, whether a person is spiritually regenerated alive, wayward, or dead in the heart. No matter what kind of spiritual mask a person may attempt to wear outwardly, there is no fooling God about the inside condition of the heart or concerning his or her eternal destiny.
A genuine child of God always bears an image satisfying to God, while every natural child of the god reflects alignment with the god of this world. Be like Jacob, who earnestly sought the will and way of God, received it, and applied it in his life, pleasing God with His reflection.
