Zealous About the Law and Lineage
Acts 22:3 (KJB) I am verily a man which am a Jew, born in Tarsus, a city in Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was zealous toward God, as ye all are this day.
Paul was proud of his heritage. His credentials were impeccable according to ancient Jewish standards. Paul was a man with a heritage and a well-known name and brought up under the teaching of a well-respected man named Gamaliel.
Paul was as proud as a peacock in being a Pharisee, a follower of the law. He was fervent about both his lineage and in keeping traditions fondly familiar to him.
That is until the day he met personally with God.
Paul was proud of his upbringing and heritage. However, meeting God that day on his way to Damascus would change what was near and dear to his heart. Where once he was zealous about the law and his lineage, he now was passionate about serving God.
